Question of No Regrets : Is 3d tv Worth buying NOW?


Im in college, ive used a tube tv of absolute crap all my life. Im the sort of person who researches stuff for ever before i buy, but when i buy i buy the best i can get my hands on.


The tv dilemma i am running into is 3d…or no 3d. Either way i need a new freakin tv. The one i have is killing me and when MW3 comes out, i want to be ready!

is the technology rapidly changing??? or will the 3d capabilities now be sufficient still in say 5 years?


also i am satisfied with content, i love the 3d in movies (LOVE IT), no headakes, no glares, no strain…it just makes the movie 1000% better for me. I only go to the theatre if the movie is in 3d.


the tvs i am looking at are 1080p, 3d, 240+hz, tru motion for most, led, 46-55″ samsung / sony bravias/ panasonic


….so with more 3d games hitting the market, with more 3d shows, movies ect…will these tvs have the full capability of keeping up with any improvements (besides no glasses as that will be too expensive and too far away for me anyway) for say the next 5 years. or will i be stuck with “an old obsolute 3d tv”


and last, if i should buy a 3d / non 3d…will it make much of a difference if i wait till say during/after black friday? i notice the price already is very low as no one is buying (1300$ for a 55″ 3d samsung 1080p (600hz subfield) -dont quote me on the hz part) …but do you think it could even drop tons more if i wait a couple months. Thanks!

NO….I would not buy it now…Few resources, other than expensive Blu Ray DVD’s……Eyestrain can be intense with active powered glasses……Small screen 3D TV is annoying. I’ll save my 3D viewing for the theatre.. In the works, down the line is a glasses free 3D TV, but at this point, it is an expensive ‘toy’. There are very few if any TV shows in 3D..! (and all TV broadcasts are in 720p or 1080i only.!!)
