Question of abigailmom2002 : How do I hook my HP desktop tower to my Sony Bravia?

I have a brand new 40″ Sony bravia that I would like to use with my HP media center pc 876x to watch recorded tv in the living room. I am able to see my laptop when I hook it up, but my desktop keeps telling me “Unsupported signal. Please check the device output.” I am connecting with an hp-provided monitor cable.

Any suggestions?

Make sure you set the computer resolution to something that your TV can support, like 1280×720.
